Cut the lightly salted pork into cubes and place it in a large pot with water.
Bring to a boil and skim off impurities from the surface.
Let the meat simmer for about 45 minutes, until it starts to become tender.
Peel potatoes, rutabaga, carrots and celery root, and cut everything into even cubes.
Add the vegetables to the pot and let the stew simmer for another about 30 minutes, until the vegetables are tender.
Slice the leek and add it for the last 5 minutes of cooking.
Season with salt and freshly ground pepper.
Mash some of the potatoes lightly with a spoon if you want a thicker texture.
Serve the stew warm.
