Peel the apples and remove the cores.
Cut the apples into wedges.
Add the apples to a bowl and toss them with sugar and cinnamon.
Let the apples sit while you make the batter.
Beat room temperature butter and sugar until pale and airy.
Add the eggs one at a time and beat well between each egg.
Sift in flour and baking powder.
Fold the dry ingredients gently into the batter.
Line a 24 cm round cake pan with parchment paper and grease the sides.
Add half of the batter to the pan.
Distribute half of the apples over.
Add the rest of the batter and top with the remaining apples.
Sprinkle over pearl sugar.
Bake in the middle of the oven at 180 degrees for about 60 minutes.
Cool the cake slightly before serving.
