Instructions
Start with the white sauce.
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
Stir in flour into an even mixture.
Gradually add milk while whisking, until you have a smooth sauce.
Let the sauce simmer for about 5 minutes.
Season with Dijon mustard, ground nutmeg, salt and pepper.
Fry the bread slices in a little butter in a hot pan until golden.
Place one slice of bread at the bottom and spread with Dijon mustard.
Add a layer of white sauce, Ridder cheese and ham.
Spread white sauce on the second slice of bread and place it on top.
Top with more white sauce and grated hard cheese.
Gratinate the sandwiches at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted and golden.
