Cut away the lowest fibrous part of the asparagus.
Cut the asparagus in half if the stalks are long.
Place top and bottom next to each other.
Wrap cured ham around the asparagus.
Place the asparagus bundles on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
Drizzle with olive oil and thick balsamic vinegar.
Season with freshly ground pepper.
Bake at 180 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes, until the cured ham is crisp.
